Austerity and Positivity

So, this weekend I was in sunny Glasgow (oh yes it was sunny) at the BBC Good Food Festival.  It is interesting to see how our current economic crisis is drip feeding into the celebrity chefs repertoire of recipes. Foie Gras has been replaced with the 'cost effective' chicken chasseur and old fashioned cuts of meat are suddenly 'in vogue'. The mentioning of tightening of belts as a metaphor for our financial future was mildy ironic considering we were at a food festival.  But then, a champagne coloured ray of light shone from the die hard Scottish producers proudly displaying their food and drink. Surely they are mad to think we will abandon our 'cheaper at Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda' delete as appropriate for tastier, better quality products that are produced on our home turf.. yet bags attached to people packed full of local products were dragged around the SECC by the people who had paid £20 for the privilidge.

Can positivity drive out this austerity fixation....certainly food for thought!
